Can we count on your support?

We appreciate your support and concern during this very difficult time for our entire country.  Most non-profit organizations are experiencing incredible financial hardships due to the COVID-19 virus pandemic, and it will be some time before our organization will be able to present our incredible theatre musicals and plays at the Historic Owen Theatre.  Those exciting community theatre productions are our primary funding source that allow us to operate our facility and pay our necessary monthly bills including rent, electricity, utilities, insurance, storage facilities, production licensing, sets and costumes, etc.

Our stage performances will return as soon as the threat of the virus has left our community, but until that time, we ask that you please consider providing some additional support now, by renewing your previous membership or becoming a new active Annual Member of the Branson Regional Arts Council.

BRAC memberships start at just $20/year and increase at various levels. Check out all of our options at BransonArts.org/membership or use the button below:

Our top priority at the Branson Regional Arts Council will always be the health and safety of all patrons, volunteers, students, actors, staff and others involved in events being held at the Historic Owen Theatre.

In light of growing concerns over the COVID-19 coronavirus, we are proactively preparing for the very real possibility of an outbreak in our area in the days to come. Therefore, we are postponing all events and classes at the Historic Owen Theatre until May 1st.

Affected events include: The Odd Couple (comedy play) – now rescheduled to May 14-17; Song Writing Workshop (with Prince Ivan) – now rescheduled to September 5th; The Hunchback of Notre Dame (musical) – now rescheduled to October 8-15th; The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged (comedy play) – now rescheduled to Aug 6, 9, 10; and all Arts and Youth Education Classes.

Current ticket holders to theatre events will be notified of the date changes, and we will accommodate any necessary refunds that these postponements may present.

We have no plans to reschedule any of our other 2020 season productions, but we will continue to monitor the recommendations of the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) response to and guidance about the coronavirus disease. BRAC will follow the guidance of the CDC, the State of Missouri, and the Taney County Health Department about managing events accordingly.

In the meantime, we have significantly increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting of all public and backstage areas beyond our previous schedule, and have added additional alcohol-based sanitizer dispensers for public use in the lobby and restrooms. We invite patrons to make use of soap, paper towels and tissues available in our restrooms. We also request that our volunteers and staff refrain from hand shaking whenever possible.

After we resume our event schedules, we encourage any ticket holders who may be experiencing cold or flu symptoms, or reside with an obviously sick family member, to please stay home and contact our box office for ticket refunds or exchanges to a later date.

We will continue to monitor the progress of this virus threat, and if warranted, will take additional measures for the safety of our area residents, visitors and performers.

Thank you for your support and understanding as we all stand up against this virus and work together to shorten the length of this International crisis.

Get ready for big laughs as the Branson Regional Arts Council presents the hilarious comedy play The Odd Couple by Neil Simon at the Historic Owen Theatre in downtown Branson. Five performances are scheduled on May 14 (7pm), May 15 (7pm), May 16 (2pm & 7pm) and May 17 (2pm), with advance reserved seat tickets available now at BransonArts.org/tix or by calling the box office at 417-336-4255. Ticket prices are $16.95 (Adults 18+) and $11.45 (Youth 4-17) with proceeds benefiting the work of the Arts Council on behalf of our community.

Note: As precaution against the COVID-19 threat, we rescheduled this performance from it’s original dates in March. We will continue to monitor the status of the virus, and may need to reschedule again for the safety of our guests, volunteers and performers. We have increased our sanitization standards to keep the entire theatre extra clean. We hope you enjoy this production and thank you for your support!

BRAC Director: Jody Madaras

Recommended for all audiences, this classic comedy opens as a group of the guys assemble for cards in the apartment of divorced Oscar Madison. And if the mess is any indication, it’s no wonder that his wife left him. Late to arrive is Felix Unger, who has just been separated from his wife. Fastidious, depressed, and none too tense, Felix seems suicidal, but as the action unfolds, Oscar becomes the one with murder on his mind when the clean freak and the slob ultimately decide to room together with hilarious results as The Odd Couple is born!

The production is directed by Jody Madaras, star of the popular All Hands On Deck show at the Dutton Family Theatre, in cooperation with Assistant Director Sean Neil Myers, who was recently featured as the Cowardly Lion in BRAC’s musical The Wizard of Oz.

“American comedy, The Odd Couple, delivers biting zingers and the ingredients that laughs are made of.  Our BRAC production comes complete with a boat load of laughs, and a heart-warming ending that is sure to please!” – Jody Madaras, Director

Chance Havens plays the role of Oscar Madison along with Robert A. Montgomery as Felix Unger. Additional cast members include Cory Hensen as Murray, Deron Wolfe as Roy, Mark Peper as Vinnie, Dylan Pratt as Speed, J.C. Clinton and Abby Reeve as the vivacious Pigeon sisters.

The Odd Couple Supporting Cast (L-R): Dylan Pratt, Cory Hensen, J.C. Clinton, Abby Reeve, Deron Wolfe, Mark Peper

Producers Kim Hale, Lisa Murphy and Karie Dykeman are assisted by Justin Ables (Artistic Advisor), Pamela Meadows (Lighting Director), and Mac Hill (Set Design and Sound Technician), Marshall Meadows (Photography), and Jim Barber (BRAC Executive Director and Marketing).

As an added bonus, theatre patrons will be invited to visit the Rock Room Gallery inside the Historic Owen Theatre for the new “Cityscapes & New York Nights” exhibition featuring artwork from a variety of local area artists. All works displayed will be available for sale by the artists. Artists interested in placing a work in the exhibit are asked to contact the Arts Council at info@bransonarts.org.

The Branson Regional Arts Council is seeking area artists to display in the Rock Room Gallery at the Historic Owen Theatre as part of our next exhibition entitled “Cityscapes & New York Nights.”

The art exhibition will open concurrently with the upcoming comedy play The Odd Couple by Neil Simon with shows May 14 – 17th.

As the play takes place in New York City, the theme of this gallery showing will include anything that would relate to the Big Apple, city skylines, urban architecture, or even poker playing dogs and cigar smoking cats. Creative and imaginative works are encouraged for submission.

Approved artists must offer their works for sale on consignment with the Arts Council during the run of the display. Several paintings were sold to patrons during our previous “Art of Oz” exhibit in February.

Interested artists should contact the Branson Regional Arts Council and submit a photo sample of their work(s) to info@bransonarts.org.
